PDP WILL WRECK LAGOS IF...- GANIYU SOLOMON
He, therefore, urged the people of Lagos to vote for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, whom he described as the most experienced candidate among the candidates contesting the governorship election.
Solomon, who lost to Ambode at the APC governorship primary, said this during a meeting with senior citizens and pensioners of Lagos State, according to a statement on Monday.
This is just as the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, who also lost to Ambode at the primary, donated a campaign office to Ambode in Ikeja.
Solomon said Lagos had seen unprecedented development in the last 15 years, adding that a vote for the Peoples Democratic Party would only set the state on the path of destruction.
He said this was not the time to put Lagos in the hands of inexperienced politicians in the light of the economic problems the nation was facing.
The statement read, “There is the need to sustain the posterity and massive development put in place for the past 15 years by the APC government in Lagos against the background of the global economic downturn.
“Lagos needs a financial expert like Ambode in order to keep her on the path of excellence. Lagos would benefit greatly from the 27 years experience of Mr. Ambode in governance, 13 years of which was in the various local government councils of Lagos and the remaining years in the mainstream of the civil service.
“Lagos is not meant for trial and error and the destiny of over 20 million people should not be handed over to an amateur in governance like Mr. Jimi Agbaje and the PDP’s catastrophic misrule and mistreatment of the Nigerian economy should not be allowed here in Lagos.”
Meanwhile, a group of Efik and Ibibio-speaking people in Lagos have endorsed Ambode. The group, “Confederation of Akwa Ibom and Cross River Indigenes in Lagos,” said it was supporting Ambode because the APC had created an atmosphere of prosperity for non-indigenes to thrive.
The convener of the group, Mrs. Lizzy Eyo, said this at an event with APC leaders in the Kosofe area of the state.
She said, “Lagos is the centre of excellence where every Nigerian is at home and as such we will support the continuity of progress so far made in Lagos State by fully supporting the APC all the way.”
