A farmer, Olubusayo Sunday, 46, on Wednesday, committed suicide after beheading his wife and daughter.
In
a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations,
it stated that the incident occurred at Onigbedu town in Ewekoro Local
Government Area of the state.
The command’s Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the man stabbed
himself severely and set himself ablaze at about 1:15 p.m. on the day.
It was reported that, Sunday beheaded his wife, Oyewole, 40 and three-year-old daughter, Esther.
Adejobi said that police detectives attached to Ewekoro division have commenced investigation into the incident.
“The
man, Mr Olubusayo, was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to
jump into a well near his house, having set himself ablaze but was
prevented and rescued by his neighbours, who later found out that he had
wrecked a great havoc in his house, but he later died in the hospital.
“The
wife, Oyewole Sunday and their daughter, Esther Sunday were beheaded by
Olubusayo for reasons known to him and the three corpses have been kept
at the General Hospital, Ifo, for autopsy and investigation.
“Up
till this moment, no one or any member of the deceased family or
neighbours could tell the police the cause of the incident, but the last
statement Olubusayo made before he died, in the presence of the police
detectives, suggested that there was a quarrel between him and his
wife.”
