OYO BEGINS HARMONISATION OF MINISTRIES

The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the 2015 Revenue Administration Bill into law. It has also started moves to repeal some existing laws and other matters connected therewith in the quest to make the merging of some ministries as proposed by the Executive Governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi A reality.

At the plenary on Tuesday, 7thJuly, 2015, the House passed the bill which has the primary aim of assisting the executive arm of government in constitutingstatutory bodies that will be saddled with the responsibility of collecting and managing the state’s revenue.
After passing second reading stage, the House formed a Committee of the Whole to look into and consider the report of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Revenue Administration Bill as submitted by Hon. Olusegun Ajanaku, the committee Chairman.
Meanwhile, the House has been constituted into various committees so as to accelerate. the work rate and ensure effective process on the proposed merging of some ministries by repealing laws that enacted the ministries concerned under the Oyo State Laws Repeal Bill, 2015.
It will be recalled that the executive Governor of the state, Governor Abiola Ajimobi recently forwarded a message to the house, seekingthe merging of some ministries.The ministries concerned are Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives and Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
Committees constituted include Oyo State Laws Repeal Committee chaired by Hon. A.A Adeleke (Iseyin/Itesiwaju), members include Hon. S.O Oguntade (Egbeda), Hon. G.T Aremu (Orelope), Hon. S.A Okunlola (Iwajowa), Hon. S.O Ajanaku (Ibadan S/W 2) and Hon. W.O Akinmoyede (Lagelu).
Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Urban Development Committee chaired by Hon. P.O Oyetunji (Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa), with Hon. B.A Jimoh (Ibarapa North and Central), Hon. Mrs. B.O Agbaje (Ibadan North 1), Hon. A.A Oladipo (Ibadan North West), Hon. J.A Olaleru (Kajola) and Hon. B.A Azeez (Ona-Ara) as members.
Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Committee headed by Hon. A.F Adesina (Ibadan S/E 2), members include Hon. O.O Olaleye (Ibadan North 2), Hon. M.A Sangodipe (Saki East and Atisbo), Hon. Mrs. B.O Oladeji (Ogbomoso North), Hon. A. Oseni (Irepo and Olorunsogo) and Hon. J. Oyebamiji (Akinyele 1).
Other committees include Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives Committee chaired by hon. B.S Badmus (Akinyele 2), members include Hon. S.A Olalere (Ido), Hon. O.S Akande (Ogbomoso South), Hon. O.A Oyatokun (Afijio), Hon. G.J Oyekola (Atiba) and Hon. A.W Adeoye (Ibadan N/E 2).
Ministry of Finance and Economic Development Committee chaired by Hon. A.A Adeleke (Iseyin/Itesiwaju), members include Hon. G.T Aremu (Orelope), Hon. S.A Okunlola (Iwajowa), Hon. S.O. Oguntade (Egbeda), Hon. S.O Ajanaku (Ibadan S/W 2) and Hon. M.A Wahab (Oluyole).
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Michael Adesina Adeyemo also constituted 5 standing committees to take care of the repeal of laws enacted those ministries in order to ensure the merging process and ensure the submission of their reports on Friday, 10th, 2015.
