All is now set for the next phase of the Waste-to-Energy Project of the Ogun State Government and Lafarge-Holcim Africa.
The team of international consultants saddled with conducting a Feasibility study for the project is ready to present its report to the State Government.
It will be recalled that the Feasibility Study was officially launched by His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun (CON, FCA) on 9th of November, 2016 in the presence of the European Union dDelegations to Nigeria and ECOWAS from the European Union Commission who funded the study, Lafarge Holcim Africa, members of the State Executive Council and other stakeholders.
The study was aimed at preparing a robust, bankable and viable off-grid Waste-to-Energy project in Abeokuta, which will be strategically replicated in other parts of the state.
Having concluded the comprehensive Feasibility Study, the team of international consultants will then present the official result of the Study to the Ogun State Governor on 17th of May, 2017 at his Oke Mosan, Abeokuta office.
The proposed Waste-to-Energy Project is in line with the State Governments goal of finding alternative energy sourcesusage for electricitywaste. Thisthis project will translate to waste-to-wealth, improve power supply and promote green energy.
Ogun State remains committed to promoting measures and initiatives that will contribute to actualization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to environmental sustainability upon which our existence hinges.
We will like to use this medium to thank the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS who is one of our key development partners especially with regards to access to sustainable energy for funding this initiative
