MY TEN KOBO: YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME

Friendships, like relationships, should be based on mutual respect and admiration.
While the former is a given, the second may be one sided or unequal, based mainly on the fact that two people cannot bring equal values into a relationship, because income, opportunities and social skills would differ.

That is why, as the Yoruba say, one friend would be a goat while the other would be a lamb, or the more conventional fire and ice metaphor.
But friendships, like all relationships also have an expiry date, wether it lasts a day or a lifetime, it would ultimately, end.
I have spent all my life putting other people first, and it has been worth it. it's my father's life lesson that what you put out is what you receive, if not in your lifetime, but in the lives of your descendants.
Why all these melancholic reflections? Well, even snakes shed skins occasionally, and if you keep hanging around people who view you as an elective while you view them as required, then you need to have your head examined.
So, time to grow a pair and cut the cord. Life's too good to be wasted on unproductive ventures and unappreciated gestures, besides, what is the purpose of having two hundred bad offsprings, when one outstanding child would suffice?
After all, if a bus left you behind, you don't go chasing after it, you wait for the next bus, or start walking.
Time to start walking.
My Ten kobo.
