Ogun Set to Check Indiscriminate Sinking of Boreholes

The Ogun State Government is set to  ensure that water abstraction policy is better regulated towards checking indiscriminate sinking of boreholes across state.

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olumide Ayeni stated this while briefing news men after the state Executive Council meeting at the Governor's office Abeokuta, yesterday.
Shedding light on the water abstraction regulation, Ayeni stated that it is for effective water system management to avoid indiscriminate sinking of boreholes, which can be detrimental to the environment and the society at large.
"We don't need to wait till we have an emergency, before we begin to properly regulate, check mate the process and to ensure that there is equitable distribution as well as avoid environmental degradation, towards meeting up with the Millennium Development Goals."
The commissioner noted that the regulation will ensure that the domestic users, all over Ogun State, have access to clean and affordable water supply.
According to him, the Council also deliberated on the state of Infrastructural development, with emphasis on the construction of the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.
