EXCLUSIVE: CHANGES IN NATIONAL MIRROR AS OLAJIDE BECOMES MD

There has been a change of baton at the headship of National Mirror, as Mr. Sunday Olajide takes over as the substantive Managing Director of the company, the fifth in four years.
Until his appointment, Mr. Olajide was the Deputy Managing Director of the company, after serving as an Executive Director for a short while.

Mr. Olajide, a well regarded Labour reporter, joined the company last year from Nigerian Tribune, where he was at various times, Lagos Bureau Chief, Saturday Editor, Managing Editor, Weekend titles and Controller, Special Publications.
He took over from Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara, who was appointed by the Board of the company in January, 2014, about a year ago.

Mr. Olajide thus become the fifth MD since the company was renamed Global Media Mirror Limited, and the sixth since the company was acquired from its former owner, Emeka Obasi.

The previous MDs are Mr. Bola Onanuga, who midwifed the transition, Mr. Abiodun Raufu , who buried the old tabloid and repackaged the new look paper, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, who took the paper to heights beyond what  its owners imagined or could sustain, Mr. Fidelis Lemche Owomaram, who was brought in to hold the fort while the owner searched, unsuccessfully, to get a high calibre journalist to run the paper, and Mrs. Ogbara, a politician, who could not use her perceived influence within the ruling party to tun around the fortunes of the newspaper.

Other high ranking appointments announced are that of Mr. Ayo Oleshi as the Editor, Sunday Mirror and that of Mr. Fidelis Lemche Owomoram as the Managing Director of the  Global Press Limited.
All the appointments take immediate effect.
