Two members of a suspected armed robbery gang who allegedly killed a
member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), during a robbery
operation in Benin, have been arrested by operatives of the Edo State
Police Command.
The late corps member, David Onyeasina, was said
to have been shot by the gang after robbing a shop along Muritala
Mohammed Way, close to Edo College, the school said to be the place of
primary assignment of the victim.
The 21-year old Onyeasina, a
graduate of Fine and Applied Arts from the Ladoke Akintola University of
Technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo state, was said to have gone to shop to buy a
recharge card when he was hit by the armed robbers bullet.

Police Command Spokesman, DSP Stephen Onwochei, who gave the names of
the two suspects as Mathias Efe and Dominus Aisabodo, disclosed that
they were arrest shortly after the incident and that the suspects had
confessed that the victim was killed during a sporadic shootout as they
attempted to escape after the operation.
According to Onwochei,
items recovered from the two arrested suspects include two cut-to-size
guns, nine live cartridges, 10 mobile handsets and jewellery belonging
to their victims.
