MY TEN KOBO; ABULE EGBA T-JUNCTION AS A METAPHOR

Yesterday, Commuters living mostly at the Otta axis spent hours at the notorious Abule Egba T-Junction, most of them not getting home until the wee hours of the morning.
This is not an unusual occurrence. It happens every time it rains, and on most Friday evenings.
You see, the T-junction is strategic because it is where most vehicular traffic from Otta axis merge with those coming from Ekoro axis.

It is also the only place to make a U-Turn after Iyana Ipaja, and the main point to empty the city bound traffic to either the Abattoir road to Agege, or straight through iyana ipaja to Oshodi.
Due to the heavy traffic, coupled with most workers who migrate on Monday mornings and return Friday evenings, the place is always a traffic controller's nightmare.
The solution is not rocket science, but with the former Governor's total aversion to anywhere beyond Ikeja, the problem was left to linger.
You see, the solution is the same that was applied to Bank Anthony Way at the Ayinke House Junction. and the Oba Akran Road at the Awolowo House Junction, build a flyover.
With a double lane flyover, you solve the problem of those going to the Sango axis as well as those coming into the city.
It would also provide relief for those who just needed to turn back towards Iyana Ipaja, as well as free the road for those linking to and from Abattoir.
No need paying for new designs, just adjust the one at The Ayinke House Junction to fit the topography.
Luckily, the immediate past Chairman, whose approval ratings in the Local government is less than zero, is now a Commissioner nominee, and can use the flyover as an avenue for redemption, while the new Assemblyman, who defeated both the eight year incumbent and a sitting LG Chairman to pick the party ticket, would justify his election by making sure a flyover is constructed at Abule Egba.
My Ten Kobo.
