1.4trn fine: Sack looms at MTN NigeriaBarely a week to November 16 deadline set by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the South African telecoms firm, MTN Nigeria to pay the 1.4 trillion fine slammed on it, there are indications that top management staff may lose their jobs.
MTN is facing regulatory sanction for its failure to deactivate unregistered Subscribers Identity Module (SIM) cards from its network.
This is coming just as the MTN group announced the appointment of Phuthuma Nhleko as Executive Chairman in a temporary capacity following the resignation of Sifiso Dabengwa as its CEO‎.
Currently, tension is high at MTN Nigeria with the fear that the crisis may affect some of its top management staffs especially the country CEO, Michael Ikpoki as well as some others.
Other staffs are also in panic mode because of the implications of the fine of MTN businesses in Nigeria should the telecoms go ahead to pay the sanction either at once ‎or staggered.
