LAGOS REMAINS COMMITTED TO PARTNERING WITH THE MEDIA - AYORINDE

The Lagos State Government has expressed its determination to continue to solidify its partnership with media organizations for the progress and development of the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde made the declaration while on courtesy visit to some media houses in the state to express the appreciation of the State Government to the organisations for their support and cooperation over the last one year of the Akinwunmi Ambode administration.
He explained that the tour of media houses was meant to acknowledge the enormous support they have given to the administration in regards to propagating the various policies, programmes and projects of the government as well as ensuring that the citizenry also fulfill their obligations.
Speaking at the Lagos Office of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Ayorinde commended the organization for the harmonious working relationship with government as it has helped in effective and efficient grass root information dissemination.
According to the Commissioner, “NAN as a content provider for both print and electronic media in the country has no doubt ensured that information to the grass root areas of the state are well disseminated.”
While affirming that the government would continue to maintain solid relationship with the media house, he solicited for continued coverage of its programmes and events.
Earlier, the Head of Lagos Office of NAN, Mrs. Kate Popoola, commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his tenacious commitment to fighting crimes and criminality as well as the implementation of people-oriented programmes.
She pledged that the agency would continue to partner with the government in achieving her plans for the good people of the state.
Speaking at the Vanguard Office in Apapa, Ayorinde stated that Lagos State government recognized and appreciate the important role of the media as a valuable partner in governance.
He commended Vanguard Newspapers for sustaining its position as a foremost media house, especially for being a pioneer in online information management and urged it to continue to maintain its undisputable reputation as a print media with sustainable spread across the metropolis and beyond.
The General Manager and Editor in Chief of the Vanguard Newspaper, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye commended the state government for a job well done, stressing that the state will continue to be an excellent state and the media house will continue to partner with the state government.
He pledged that Vanguard will continue to support the government even when they criticize some of its programmes, explaining that such criticisms are meant to ensure that the interest and needs of the people are brought to its (government) attention.
