FAYOSE AND THE ZENITH OF PROPAGANDA

Since the assumption of office of the present administration at the centre as well as in the majority of the states, we have had a topsy turvy of a ride, most of the time unpalatable.

We have on one hand a president who is insensitive to the multi cultural, multi religious nature of the country with lopsidedness of his appointments, as well as using analogue ideas to run a digital
economy, which leads to such hopelessness we have not experienced since, well, 1984.
We also have a national assembly whose members have nothing but contempt for the voters, making laws that is meant to accentuate their greed, or to protect them from scrutiny.
On top of these, we have a ruling party isolated from government that is driven primarily by nepotism and run by a cult whose only qualification is their loyalty to the president and are/or share his tribal and religious affiliation, and an opposition party that is imploding and hemorrhaging.
if you now add governors who have run their states aground, the destruction of the local government system and an unproductive but entitled elite, then it is obvious that we have major problems.
That was why a steady supply of comic relief is needed to maintain our sanity.
Now, in the last one year, one man has emerged as the king of comedy, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, the T-shirt wearing, ponmo cutting and okada riding governor of Ekiti State, a state also known as, don't laugh, Fountain of Knowledge.
Mr. Fayose took over the mantle of comedic leadership from illustrious predecessors such as Barkin Zuwo, Lamidi Adedibu and Jim Nwobodo, those who provided humor in otherwise serious situations.
But the recent attempt by Mr. Fayose to wriggle out of the messy scandal that led to the freezing of his accounts is taking the joke too far.
First he tried to divert attention from the matter at hand by accusing the wife of the president of being culpable in the Halliburton scandal, backed with doctored passport and all, then he accused a bank of bankrolling his campaign, and then released a picture of kneeling "bankers".
While he is presumed innocent until found guilty, it would be in his best interest to face the issue clearly, by providing documents needed to clear his name, instead of all this merry go rounding that is not helping his case.
My Ten Kobo.
