Herbs, panacea to rise in incurable diseases - Ogedengbe

A foremost expert on Yoruba culture and tradition and the Chairman, Ogedengbe Spiritual and Healing Creative Centre, Olosun-Ota, Ogun State, Chief (Dr.) Tunde Ogedengbe, has described herbs as a panacea to the rise in communicable and non-communicable diseases, which have defied all forms of orthodox medical solutions.

Chief Ogedengbe, who stated this in a chat with newsmen at Ota, Ogun State recently, noted that herbs have played a vital role in the process of developing and evolving a virile and qualitative health system, and have contributed remarkably to the nation’s health care delivery system through application of herbs on a myriad of health challenges.
He stressed that most of the herbal medicine practitioners in the country have not only risen to be providers of solutions to various diseases affecting people, but as pace-setters in terms of service to humanity.
In a related development, the National Association of Iwarefa Herbal Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria is set to honour Chief (Dr.) Ogedengbe as the Asiwaju Iwarefa as recently made known by Alhaji (Dr.) Yahya Aare, the Association’s National President, who once noted that the honour on Chief (Dr.) Ogedengbe was in recognition of his past activities, dedication, philanthropy and contributions to the herbal medical sector of the nation’s health industry in particular and the Yoruba culture and traditional institution in general.
“As a manifestation of the recognition of Chief Ogedengbe’s contributions to the Nigerian nation building and particularly, his loyal and dedicated service to the development of the Iwarefa and the maintenance of peace and tranquility as a worthy custodian of Yoruba culture and tradition, we found him worthy of the Asiwaju title”
In his reaction to the conferment, Chief (Dr.) Ogedengbe explained that he felt highly honoured, adding that words were inadequate to express his heart-felt appreciation and sincere gratitude to the National President of the Association, Alhaji Chief (Dr.) Mohammed Yahaya Aare, all national executive council members and the entire members of the association throughout the country for deeming him fit for the honour.
He, however, assured the people of his determination to live up to expectation by bringing positive innovations and productive dynamism into the association to the delight and admiration of all and sundry in and outside Yoruba land.

Dignitaries expected at the ceremony include senior government officials, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Awoyemi Oroja, Onimeran of Meran Kingdom, Lagos state and other traditional rulers, the Ekerin of Ota, High Chief  B. A Osunlabu, the Asiwaju Ijana, Alhaji (Chief) Sheriff Salako, Alhaji Ruillahi Salako, the National President of Iwarefa Herbal Medicine Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Chief (Dr) Yahaya Aare, the Association’s National  Secretary, Chief (Dr.) Asunni Ajulo, Chairman of the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Chapter, Chief (Dr.) Bashiru Ajayi and other members of the Association’s National Executive Council, among others.
