ABULE EGBA AND THE PRICE OF DEVELOPMENT

The contractors handling the Abule Egba flyover, and by extension, the Lagos State government, should find a way to save us from the danger, and the inconvenience of these heavy duty trucks, tankers, trailers and sundry heavy machinery vehicles.
Hardly would a day go by without one of them breaking down, blocking narrow streets that they could not manoeuvre because of their bulk.
Unfortunately, with the closure of the construction site to traffic, and the refusal to designate certain rads to heavy duty vehicles, no road, no matter how narrow or delicate, is off limits to these giant vehicles.
Now, it takes hours to even to do ordinary school runs, not to talk of timing your movement within the neighborhood.
My candid advise is to restrict the trucks to the abattoir link to Fagba junction, or they could open the katagwa corridor for them to exit at Awori
Whatever they need to do, they must do it quickly, because the pain is becoming unbearable. Just this morning, a Dangote truck just blocked Jibowu , the only road that serves as an alternative route to the overworked Agbe road, doubling the already untenable stress levels.
We know we have to bear a certain degree of discomfort, and I must commend the LASTMA personnel, although I wish they could work till around midnight, but something must be done, and be done quickly.
My Ten Kobo.
