Jimi Agbaje the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party has congratulated his opponent and winner of the Lagos state
governorship election, Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives
Congress.
Ambode was named winner of the election this evening by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“I
just called @AkinwunmiAmbode to congratulate him on his victory. I wish
him well and pray he will be successful in guiding this state,” Agbaje
wrote on his Twitter account.
Ambode beat Agbaje by 811,994 to
659,788 votes and was declared winner of the election after meeting the
provisions in the electoral law by Returning Officer, Lagos State
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Isaac Adewole who
is the Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan.
The duo scored 25
per cent of vote cast in all the 20 Local Government, the simple
majority system was employed to determine the winner, with Ambode
winning a very close contest.
