The Borno Police Command on Friday, confirmed the killing of six
persons when a suicide bomber attacked the venue of a wedding ‘fatiha’
in Tashan Alade town of Hawul Local Government Area in Borno.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Opadokun, confirmed casualty figure in an interview with NAN in Maiduguri.
Opadokun said that no fewer than 30 people were also injured during the attack.
“I
confirm the report on an alleged suicide bombing in Tashan Alade in
Hawul LGA.The incident was reported to have occurred at a wedding
fatiha.
“Presently, six persons, all males, whose identities are unknown, are confirmed dead, while 30 others were injured,” he said.
Opadokun said that the police had commenced investigations into the matter.
“Investigation is in progress on the issue,” he said.
Opadoku, however, said that the inauguration of Gov. Kashim Shettima for a second term of office in Maiduguri ,was peaceful.
