Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has charged members of the Nigerian union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) to maintain peaceful coexistence in all their activities and interactions.
The peace parley had in attendance the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Police headquarters, Eleyele, representatives of Department of State Services and FRSC, representative of the Special Adviser (Security) to the Governor, representatives of the Ministries of Works and Transport, Justice and Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and the Executive Members of NURTW and TOAN.
Senator Ajimobi admonished them not to disrupt peace in the State, stating that his administration is committed to ensuring the security of lives and properties of its citizenry.
The governor stressed that the prevailing peace in Oyo State which has led to various developmental projects as well as attracting investors to the state should not be truncated.
In the communiqué signed by both parties at the end of the meeting, the Unions agreed that peace would continue to reign in the State and they would abide by the law.
The State Chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Toafeek Oyerinde appreciated Governor Ajimobi for organizing the peace parley to resolve the crisis between the two Unions.
He enjoined members of NURTW and TOAN not to allow politicians in the state to use them to truncate the peace being enjoyed by the good people of Oyo State.
