MY TEN KOBO; OUR OWN GARDER!

This picture was taken from the second floor of Axil Building, besides Bada House, Abule Egba, a couple of days ago.
As of this moment, this building, as well as Bada House, no longer exists. they were pulled down a few minutes ago.

The buildings are part of the eggs we have to break to make the Abule Egba flyover omelette, a project so dear to my heart that I am willing to give the Ambode administration a pass on the dodgy execution of some of the roads recently commissioned.
The Abule Egba renewal project, when completed, complete with sidewalks, BRT lanes and flower beds, would, given the bold determination of the governor and the firm resolve of Commissioner Ganiu Johnson, be the most enduring and endearing legacy of this administration.
This project in itself, is massive, but what I am really excited about is the possibilities that it throws up.
Imagine this scenario:
Rising from the rubbles of the demolished buildings, a long line of glass fronted shops opening to the sidewalk, mostly restaurants and coffee shops, boutiques and financial/telecom outlets, maybe one or two drugstores.
With an already built up multi purpose modern market at the Oja oba end, a world class second hand market just a mile further down the road, the main abattoir in the state, an a retinue of upper middle class estates, the new Abule Egba could become the hub that controls the commercial activities from Abeokuta to Sango to Alakuko, as well as serving as the clearing house for the Ikeja and the Agege axis.
I know I am daydreaming, as the post construction era may just turn the area into a busy, noisy overcrowded and lawless confluence, but for once, I wish we could just get it right to the very end.
But that is a lifetime away. In the meantime, I am just giddy from the fact that in a little while, we are going to have a Garder of our own!
My Ten Kobo.
