BLAME FAYOSE FOR ANY MAYHEM, SPEAKER OMIRIN

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, has reacted to a news item on Ekiti State Radio and television that the 19 members of Ekiti State House of Assembly led by the Speaker currently in Lagos are planning to storm Ekiti State on Monday with thugs from neighbouring state to cause mayhem, saying any break-down of law and order is orchestrated by Governor Ayo Fayose to implicate him.

Omirin's Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi, said in a statement that such accusation by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Idowu Adelusi, smacked of dishonesty and an attempt to implicate the innocent lawmakers for ‎an evil planned by the government itself in order to set the people of Ekiti State against APC lawmakers.
Olujobi, who said he would not have reacted to such a petulant lie if not that Ekiti people do not know how the PDP-led government operates,‎ explained that close observers of PDP's politics know that when its eaders want to cause trouble and implicate the opponents in the process, they would accuse the opponents of exactly what they intend to do and on the day they would carry out the plan, they will travel out of town and unleash aides to carry out the plan while the aides in turn plead alibi for their leader.
"Can Ekiti people remember Adelusi's press statement on August 12, 2006 when‎ he said a security report indicated that a popular politician would be killed to implicate his party? What happened to a popular politician on August 14,2006 in Ijan-Ekiti? Of course a popular politician contesting the governorship election with his boss was killed. He is on a familiar terrain. This is the same way Adelusi is getting a security report today that Omirin is bringing thugs to Ekiti to cause mayhem.
"This is the same Adelusi who said that the Ekiti State APC lawmakers are from Osun and Lagos lawmakers who impersonated as Ekiti State lawmakers. What will Adelusi not do in his brinkmanship?
"No one is deceived by this old trick of blaming opponents for the offence they know nothing about. We know that the government is planning exactly what it is accusing Omirin of. It smacks of dishonesty and lack of integrity in governance process when you set a process in motion to punish a man for the offence he did not commit. How can you ask people to join you in moving the state forward and you are setting traps and erecting roadblocks on their way?
"We know exactly what the government is planning. It wants to instigate a crisis that will lead to the closure of the House of Assembly. The plan is to import thugs into the state like the government did last Monday to demonstrate against the Speaker. The thugs will be herded into the House of Assembly‎ Complex in the garb of pro-Omirin lobby to drum support for the Speaker. They will unleash mayhem to create an atmosphere of insecurity to enable the police react with maximum force resulting in violence on a massive scale. APC members will now be implicated and arrested, followed by the closure of the Assembly that will now make the governor become a maximum leader. That is his obsession," Olujobi explained.
He added that the governor made it clear during his inauguration that he would send all APC members out of Ekiti State. He urged Ekiti people to be ready for this type of shenanigans as part of standard practice‎ to expect from the new government to run the opponents out of town to enable the governor seize the state by the throat.
