'I CANNOT BE INTIMIDATED' - WIKE

Former Minister of State for Education and a governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has said he will not be intimidated out of the governorship race in the state.

Wike, who boasted that he would run and win the forthcoming governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, added that he stood a better chance of winning the governorship election in 2015.
The former minister, who spoke on Saturday while addressing PDP delegates in Ahoada West Local Government Area, explained that some leaders disregarded their constituents because of the absence of any contract between them and the people.
Wike urged the delegates not to waste their votes on governorship aspirants who lacked the capacity to discuss and negotiate for the development of the state.
He pointed out that governorship aspirants who were in the race with the belief that they would enjoy external endorsements were wasting their time.
Wike said, “Aspirants, who are not campaigning, are taking the people and PDP delegates for granted by erroneously thinking that they will emerge through external endorsements.
“Those who are making noise are just coming, they know nothing about the feelings of the people and what they have passed through. They have not engaged in any political engagement.
“If you are popular, come and stand election. This election, nobody will dash governorship to any person. This election, I will run in the primary and win and I will run in the general election.
“Anyone who is threatening violence does not love the President (Goodluck Jonathan). However, we are on the ground and all these threats will not move us. We are with the people to lead PDP to victory.”
