TANKER EXPLODES.IN IKORODU, THREE DEAD

At least three people have been confirmed dead during an inferno that occurred when a petroleum tanker exploded on Tuesday morning in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
P.M.NEWS correspondent reliably gathered that the incident happened at about 6:47am when the tanker belonging to Forte Oil had a brake failure while trying to climb the steep hill on Beach Road opposite the abbatoir on the same road.

The driver of the tanker, a motorcycle rider and a yet-to-be identified commuter were burnt beyond recognition as the fire gutted the abbatoir and wreaked havoc in the area.
As at the time of filing this report, cows and goats had also been burnt as the inferno also spread to a building inside the slaughter slab which serves the people of Ebute and its environs.
The entire area has since been cordoned off by touts as men of the Nigerian Fire Service were also trying to put out the fire.
