At least three people have been confirmed dead during an
inferno that occurred when a petroleum tanker exploded on Tuesday
morning in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
The
driver of the tanker, a motorcycle rider and a yet-to-be identified
commuter were burnt beyond recognition as the fire gutted the abbatoir
and wreaked havoc in the area.
As
at the time of filing this report, cows and goats had also been burnt
as the inferno also spread to a building inside the slaughter slab which
serves the people of Ebute and its environs.
The entire area has since been cordoned off by touts as men of the Nigerian Fire Service were also trying to put out the fire.
