FOUR DEAD IN RIVERS CULT CLASH


 


FOUR persons were feared dead when some people suspected to be cultists engaged in sporadic shooting at Ibaa community, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Sunday.
It was gathered that many residents had fled the community as a result of the shooting, which was said to have started in the early hours of the day, lasting for about five hours.
While details of the clash could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, sources within the community said the shooting could be a reprisal action from hoodlums.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Muhamaad, confirmed the incident, saying security men had moved there to restore nomalcy.
“The command is aware of the incident. Our men are already there, while normalcy had since been restored. Three suspects are in police custody in connection with the incident,” he said.
A community source, who said he saw about four corpses being conveyed in a police patrol vehicle out of the community corroborated the position of the police’s image maker that peace had returned to the area.
The source said, in spite of the presence of security men, natives were seen leaving the area on motorcycles
