The PDP said this while reacting to the sum of another N52b loan approved for Gov Amaechi by his lawmakers Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
In a statement by the Party Chairman, Prince Felix Obuah and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam, the PDP said the way and manner, and the frequent application for loans which have always been approved by his rubber-stamp lawmakers smack of a conspiracy and grand plot by Gov Amaechi and his cohorts to impoverish and mortgage the State before he leaves office so that his successor will have nothing to inherit but debt servicing.
The Party said the ploy is deliberate because Amaechi knows he has lost grip by failing to lure and, or coerce the State into the All Progressives Congress, APC which is his only hope of remaining relevant in the political leadership of the State.
It’s even more worrisome that the State legislature, a distinct arm of government so framed and elected to checkmate such executive lawlessness has been so castrated by Amaechi that any proposal no matter how senseless and illogical presented to them is passed without questioning, the PDP regrets.
The only rationale for this madness and total disregard for the future of these innocent Rivers people and their children, according to the PDP, is to ensure that the next administration sure to be a PDP government is incapacitated even before it takes off, so that he can turn around to blame it for non-performance, creating the impression that he was a better Governor.
“But unknown to him, the Party has long uncovered this plot and is not unmindful of this snare. However, all and sundry should take note of this wickedness not to our Party but to the entire State. Everybody including the financial institutions, the misguided and deceived self-seeking legislators and indeed, the intelligentsia should rise up against this enslavement by Amaechi and refuse him the chance of riding on the presumed gullibility of the majority of our people to sound tomorrow as if he was not the cause of the anticipated hard times if he is allowed to have his way”, the PDP warned.
