SECURITY ISSUES NOT FOR MEDIA ATTENTION -DANJUMA

Former defence minister, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma has vowed never to discuss national security on the pages of newspapers.
The elder statesman told journalists in Kano State shortly after commissioning a multi-billion naira, 5-wing building he constructed and donated to Bayero University, Kano that such an act was not in the interest of Nigeria.

“I cannot discuss security issues with the press, it is certainly not in the interest of national security,” he said, even as he identified sharp practices as being wholly responsible for Nigeria’s weak infrastructure base, adding that the inability of those saddled with trust to judiciously utilise funds earmarked for projects was Nigeria’s undoing.
“Judicious application of funds is one of our greatest weaknesses in Nigeria’s infrastructure development,” Danjuma emphasised.
He explained that as an individual, he usually engages the services of spies to monitor progress of jobs in any philanthropic job he does for effective delivery.
General Danjuma commended the university authority for the prudent management of the N260million disbursed for the job
