The latest opinion poll released by the NOI Polls, Tuesday, showed
Akinwunmi Ambode, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate narrowly
leading Jimi Agbaje, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate.
The survey, conducted in collaboration with ANAP Foundation, showed a close race between the two top gubernatorial aspirants.
There are 15 candidates vying for the gubernatorial ticket in Lagos State, but Messrs Ambode and Agbaje are the front runners.
When respondents were asked who they will be voting for in the
election, according to the poll results, Mr. Ambode led the other
candidates with 26 per cent, followed closely by Mr. Agbaje with 21 per
cent.
“However, 50 percent of those polled are undecided as to
their choice of candidate; and it is believed this significant
proportion of voters would be critical in deciding who eventually wins
the coveted seat,” the poll organizers said in a statement.
“The
survey results also show that both candidates have strong support from
eligible voters across all age groups. However, a significant proportion
of first time voters aged between 18-21 years (64 per cent) are
undecided as to their choice of candidate.”
According to the
survey, nine in 10 eligible voters are registered to vote in the
February elections, with the same number being absolutely certain they
will vote.
Despite being mostly undecided, first time voters of
between 18 to 21 years age group leads the majority of those who are
absolutely certain they will vote.
