DEJI BALOGUN AND THE THIRTY CAMERAS

It is extremely rare to see Deji Balogun, DB, the GM of LTV, giddy these days during office hours. Which in his case is pretty much the whole day.

But earlier this week, DB was as giddy as a schoolboy.
Out of curiosity, I asked whether he just got a long sought after Xmas gift, like a dirt bike or in my case, a copy of Mesiogo, a collection of essays about Ibadan that I loaned out but never got back.
But what LTV got was more than a Xmas present, it was a bona fide game changer.
LTV just took delivery of some world class broadcast equipment that is set to place them in the forefront of the new Digital TV experience that will kick off next year.
* 30 JVC GY-HM200E camcorders with soft carry bags and wet suits.
* 5 microphone types to each camera.
* 2 batteries per camera, plus tripods and field lights.
* 6 Stream boxes, which facilitate live broadcast of Breaking news from any part of the world, in clear high definition, irrespective of the weather, terrain or limited visibility.
* HDR explorer 710 BGAN, which is the latest cutting edge anywhere global geographical connectivity modem.
With the arrival of these equipment, coupled with the rigorous staff training that is ongoing, and the infusion of young go getters into the system, LTV is uniquely positioned to become the destination for breaking news anywhere in the world. With crisp, clear pictures and quality sound output, the truly digital experience from Nigeria is here at last!
No wonder DB is giddy, I am just an innocent bystander, and I already feel like if I had won the lottery.
Happy days are here again.
My Ten Kobo.
