GOBE AND MY TEN KOBO

Gobe
Have you noticed that when people tell what they call inspirational stories, or simply want to encourage you to pray more or put your trust in God, it always ends with one of the following pay off lines.
1. He got a job in an oil company/bank/telco with an official car and driver
2. He got a visa, or won the lottery, to the US
3. He got official quarters at VGC/ Asokoro/ Bodija/GRA
4. She met and married the prince/billionaire/ President.
5. He/She was miraculously cured of cancer/diabetes/stroke/stupidity.
etc..,
Meanwhile, due to the recession, such Hollywood inspired fantasies should be have a realistic upgrade.
1. He got a job with Drain Ducks at N20k per month to clean the drains. He used that as a launch pad to start his own PSP refuse collection business.
2. He borrowed/ begged/stole N400k to secure a visa, only to be deported on arrival, he then started a pure water business.
3. Because of the distance between Akute and Ajah, he squats at Iporin from Monday to Friday before going home for the weekend. Or simply sleep in the office during the week.
4. She met a young man who owns a small IT support shop, and helps out at the shop on weekends as they struggle to raise their two young children.
5. Because the cancer was caught on time, she undertook the full chemotherapeutic treatment and is now cancer free. He changed his diet, exercise, and his diabetes is now under control. While he has regained most of his motor skills, but the stroke means he now has limited use of his right hand.

Now, will the second part, depressing as hell, not more uplifting than the first part, which represents less than 1% of those cases?
Sometimes, tough love is the real love.
