In a bid to create brand awareness and further showcase the potentials of Lagos State to international audience, an arrangement is being put together to collaborate with Euro News through its new product, Pan African Channel as part of concerted efforts to use entertainment to drive tourism in the State
.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde made this known at a meeting with the Senior Account Director of Euronews, Marianne Michelette when she paid a courtesy visit to his office in Alausa.
Speaking during the meeting, Ayorinde restated the commitment of the State Government to “continue to welcome relationship that will be of mutual benefit”.
He enumerated the enormous potentials of the State that would be of interest to the international audience, especially the gale of projects and programmes across all sectors embarked upon by the current administration in its bid to ensure socio-economic development of the State.
Among the programmes listed by Ayorinde that could kick start the partnership, are those lined for the rest of the year, such as the Lagos Street Party holding in Victoria Island on December 3rd and 4th, the eight-day “One Lagos Fiesta” that will hold simultaneously in the five divisions of the State from December 24 and end with the “Cross-over” fireworks on December 31 as well as the “Lagos at 50” scheduled for 2017.
The Commissioner expressed happiness that the success of the “One Lagos Fiesta” last year, especially the superlative fireworks has earned Lagos a position among the 10 cities whose Cross-over fireworks would be relayed across the globe.
While commending Euronews for its unique reporting style, especially for being the only multi-lingual channel in Europe, Ayorinde urged the station to take advantage of the gale of programmes to raise awareness on its inherent potentials.
Earlier, the Senior Account Director, accompanied by Mr. Felix Eguagbor, Director Africa, Vision Plus Media, stated that the purpose of the visit was to seek partnership with Lagos State on the new product of EuroNews, the Pan African Channel, which is a platform to propagate narratives of African countries from African perspective.
She recognised the significant importance of Lagos State in Africa, describing it as a vibrant city with great potentials, hence the need to create a brand awareness on the State.
Michelete expressed the readiness of the station to report the various programmes of the State through different magazines, adding that the new platform would be the most appropriate to relay events about Lagos State.
