Lagos State Governorship candidate for Nigeria’s All Progressives
Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode, said on Tuesday that the time has come
to leave difficult primaries behind and take Lagos to greater heights.
“The
primaries have come and gone and we are now in the main campaign,” he
said during a courtesy call to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of
Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji who was one of the governorship aspirants
early this month.
Ambode said those who lost and those who won
during the primary elections are all winners and should work together
for a better Lagos.
“We are all winners and we are going to work together as a team. We
are going to take Lagos to the next level,” he told members of the
Assembly.
He said he had come to seek their support and added that he believes in team spirit.
If
he emerges winner in February, his government will work as one team,
“because we have only one focus: to take Lagos to the next level.”
He
described himself as a personal friend of the Speaker. He said he had
known him for 25 years and worked with him for eight years.
Speaker Ikuforiji described Ambode as a friend and pledged to give him his unalloyed support during the next election.
“Today
I am a winner because Akin Ambode is the candidate of our party.
Hundred percent of my support, you can take it for granted,” Ikuforiji
told Ambode.
He said Ambode would be the next governor of Lagos and called him “his excellency”.
“Let me be the first to say his excellency,” Ikuforiji said.
